THE SKELETAL SYSTEM

Hello my precious students :)
Below are the brief descriptions of the skeletal system.

1)  The human skeleton is the internal framework of the body.


2)  The human skeleton can be divided into the axial skeleton and the appendicular skeleton.
3)  The axial skeleton is formed by the vertebral column, the rib cage and the skull. Whereby
      the appendicular skeleton is attached to the axial skeleton and is formed by the
      pectoral girdles, the pelvic girdle and the upper and lower limbs.


4)  The axial skeleton forms the central axis of the body. It consists of ...



5)  The appendicular skeleton is composed of 126 bones in the human body. It consists of ...


6) Bones are classified as long, short, irregular, flat and sesamoid. Long bones consist 
    of a shaft and two extremities, these bones are longer. 
    For examples the femur, tibia and fibula.



7) Short, irregular, flat and sesamoid bones have no shafts or extremities and are diverse
    in shape and size.    
    For examples :
    a) short bones - carpals (wrist)
    b) irregular bones - vertebrae and some skull bones
    c) flat bones - sternum, ribs and most skull bones
    d) sesamoid bones - patella (knee cap)
